FAQs
Can I sit in my usual High Holiday seats?
Unfortunately, traditional and previous seating arrangements will not be in effect this year. We are following COVID guidelines. If we need to follow social distancing, seating capacity will be limited, as rows and chairs will be eliminated. There is no guarantee of securing an aisle seat, sitting with the usual surrounding families or obtaining your first preference. However, every effort will be made to honor your requests.
Why are there first, second, third, etc. choices on the form?
Seating in the sanctuary is very limited. The goal is to ensure that all congregants will be able to attend at least one service in the sanctuary. The various services emphasize major aspects of The Days of Awe. Individuals may attach a significant meaning to a particular day, and our hope is that by assigning seats by ranked choice will address this.
Should I order tickets for all the services even though I may not attend some of them?
Because we are doing things differently this year, if you know that you will be out of town or do not plan to attend a specific service, we ask that you not request tickets for that service.
Is mask wearing in the common areas and sanctuary mandatory?
As of today, we are still requiring masks be worn throughout the temple, and in the sanctuary during services. We will revisit this and make a final decision in the weeks leading up to Rosh Hashanah.
Can members purchase tickets for family members, such as parents and children over age 25, who do not live in the members’ domicile?
Yes, you may purchase tickets for your relatives who would like to attend services with us. Again, please request the number of tickets you need for each individual service. For example, if your adult child would like to attend services with you on Rosh Hashanah, but not Yom Kippur, do not request a ticket for them for Yom Kippur.
Will services be live-streamed so I can watch from home?
Yes, all services that take place in the sanctuary will be live-streamed, and available to watch on our website or on our YouTube channel.
Can I request to sit with other families who I am not related to?
Yes, you can request to sit with other families. However, we will not hold seats for anyone who has not submitted a ticket request form. As we begin to assign seats, if the families you request to sit with have not submitted forms, there is a good chance you will not be able to sit with them.
Will prayerbooks be available for home use to follow along with live-streamed services?
Yes, prayerbooks will be available to borrow for home use. If you borrow a prayerbook to use at home, we may ask that you bring it with you if you attend services in the sanctuary. This will depend on how many prayerbooks we loan out.
Will there be a service in the amphitheater?
Yes, we plan to have our student rabbis run a multi-media service in the ampitheater for each of the holidays. This is an option that you may choose instead of requesting seats for the traditional service in the sanctuary. Unfortunately, you cannot choose to attend both services in the sanctuary and in the amphitheater – you will need to request tickets for one or the other.
You still need to request tickets to attend, but seats will not be assigned in the amphitheater.
Will hearing/assisted listening devices be available?
Yes, hearing devices will be available to borrow for those who need them. You can bring your own headphones to connect to the device, or borrow ours (we have disinfecting wipes to clean them between uses).
Can I donate or give away my tickets to friends?
No. As mentioned earlier, seating will be extremely limited this year, especially if we have to socially distance. We are trying to accommodate all members and enable everyone who wants to attend services in person to be able to do so. In order to be
able to accommodate all of our members, we will be checking to make sure that only members who requested tickets are sitting in their assigned seats.
Will there be a Family Service on Rosh Hashanah & Yom Kippur?
There will not be an in-person Family Service, however we will have a service that families can watch on live-stream through our website or YouTube.
